Quadran Galataport

Planlux participated in the development of lighting identity for Quadran, Galataport, Istanbul. Interior architecture by Toner Architects.

 Incorporating the leading brands of Swiss watchmaking and valuable jewelry belonging to various designers, Quadran Luxury Timepieces’ Istanbul store is located in Galataport Karaköy, one of Turkey’s most important ports. 

The location of the store is also the Cruise Terminal, the majority of its portfolio consists of international visitors. Although Quadran Galataport store is small in square meters compared to Quadran’s other stores, it hosts important collections. The concept approach developed by Toner Architecture stands out with its details developed using a simple design language and its ostentatious structure. While the wooden wall surfaces and showcase modules in the interior strengthen the perception of the space, the semi-permeable glass and lighting details preferred in the pedestal display units where the front display is made make the first customer experience impressive.

We developed the lighting design scheme of the space in line with the contrast ratios aimed to be created by evaluating the natural light from the façade together with the emphasis and definitions of type modules such as built-in display modules, tabletop display units and free-standing display cabinets.

While developing the showcase details envisaged in the architecture, the light sources integrated into it were worked on based on the principles that prioritize the eye comfort of the customers. It was important that the exhibited product conveyed its character correctly and that its true colors could be expressed inside the units.

The DALI-based lighting control system, which is used to balance the difference due to daylight at different times of the day, enables each zone in the store to be arranged and recorded according to the scenario needed. In addition, a lighting control infrastructure was planned that allows the space to be rearranged according to the needs of the business.
